Does the belt on the Prairies and Brute Forces require adjustment every once in awhile via the removal/addition of shims in the secondary?

YES, but that work is greatly decreased if you use low gear as much as possible.

How fast can you run in low? Where I ride there are spots that I do you slow because of trees and such and then it might open up and you can hit 50 and then slow back down. It would be a pain to have to stop and shift all the time. How fast are people going in low and how long are these belts lasting in low vs high?

Ya, I know what you mean. That happens with me all the time. useing high in with a smooth trail will work, only if you just keep the gas on allot. Dont roll onto the throttle. AS long as the cluth is engaged well on trails that are smooth you will have no prob.

Does everyone eventually have to adjust their belt on a Kawasaki V-twin?

Yes. Belt stretches overtime just like your fanbelt on your car or chain on your bike/motorcycle/ATV. Kawi Clutches use shims in the secondary clutch to adjust the CVT drive belt deflection (make belt tighter taking out larger shims shims or looser adding shims). When all shims are removed and belt is still loose/over maximum measurement in manual Your Kawi belt needs replaced.

Will EVERY Prairie, Brute Force owner have to do this though if they keep their machine for any amount of time?

Nope, opted for the King. Wanted one in the worst way at one time. You have a 360 though and I believe that's a different scenario from the V-twin machines.

Goblin, I see you started this argument back up over here. But I still say if you don't here or feal any problems, then you don't have to take it apart all the time like you were telling that guy. I have only changed one belt after 1500 miles and I supose It could have been shimmed to get another 3 or 4 hundred miles but my mechanic said it was not worth trouble to take it apart again later, I agreed completely. I still say you can get 1500-2500 miles out of a belt without adjustments of any kind. And for myself thats about 2 or 3 years. 30 or 40 minuts and 60 bucks every 3 years,or 100 bucks and have the dealer do it. How is that a big deal. You were telling that guy not to buy kawi's because they require constant maintence on there belts. To me every 3 years is not all the time, Maybe some of these guys do ajust theres more than I think. I just never had to on any of mine.
