Belt light came on twice in 3mi.
Last night I was doing some plug checks and my belt light came on,so I limped it home, found the reset in the manual, did the reset took it for another ride and it ran fine then thelight came back on again Any ideas on what I should check first? I'm going to make sure the wires and connectors are ok tonight.
Update: I checked all the connections last night, they all seem ok,I shook the harness with it running trying to get the light to come on. It did not come on,so I took for a ride,it came on soon after I nailed the throttle,it did it three more times in less the a mile. I check my belt deflection,it's at 1in when the belt is pushed down hard. I can see where the belt has rubbed on the little plastic deflector near the belt trip switch and I see a mark on the belt where it rubbed on that peice.
The belt switch was not tripped

Here ya go.
Make sure the belt switch in the ON position. Locate these connectors: Behind the plastic just below the shifter and forward of the fuel petcock a gray 4 pin connector and a black 4 pin connector. These connectors are held up by 2 flexible metal clamps. Unbend the clamps and pull the wires down where you can get to them easily. There is a black rectangular box on top of the CVT cover. This is the belt trip switch. There is a wire coming out of it with a black 2 pin connector attached.
This is straight from the manual in layman’s terms.
1. Make sure the ignition is OFF.
2. Unhook the black and gray 4 pin connectors. Hook black to gray and gray to black.
3. Turn the ignition ON.
4. Unhook the black 2 pin connector coming from the belt trip switch.
5. Let the belt light flash for at least 5 seconds. More than 5 seconds is OK.
6. Turn OFF the ignition and wait a few seconds to let the KEBC do its thing.
7. Turn the ignition back ON.
8. Let the belt light flash for at least 5 seconds. More than 5 seconds is OK.
9. Turn the ignition switch back OFF.
10. Reconnect the black 2 pin connector, disconnect the mismatched black and gray 4 pin connectors, reconnect the 4 pins to their proper mates.
11. Turn the ignition ON. The belt light should not be blinking.
12. Stow the wires back under the clamps and bend them to secure the wires.
