WalMart Oil Filter??? Kawai Brute 650
#2
dont go walmart just spend a little extra $$ and do it right, and walmart is pushing jobs over seas because companies cant make walmarts demands for products at walmarts prices so they are forced overseas to make the demands and making people loose there jobs, support the little guy go and buy a filter from your dealer

The little guy has a 150% mark up.
I went the other route & bought the reuseable oil-filter that is now being offered thru www.rockymountainatv.com for $54 bucks. At the little guys prices, this Filter will pay for itself on the 5th oil change + it filters better than any paper filter on the market.

Although I agree with you Storj concerning Walmarts practices with forcing companies to produce in China to meet their price demands, the factory oil filters from Kawasaki are made in Japan (overseas) as well. The filter for the Mazda Miata will fit the Prairie/Brute 650 I believe its for a 1.3 L motor. I guess if you can find a US built filter for the Mazda you would be OK
I remember about 10 years ago when I first started going to Walmart, their motto was if they could purchase a product for distribution that was made in the US they would, but now they are China's 4 largest trading partner, 60 billion dollars.
We are all going to be living in shacks in 20 years, and be the worlds #2 superpower behind China if we don't wise up and buy American.
I still buy my Ammunition at Walmart (made in US)
I feel bad that I bought a Jap quad, but at the moment China is our real problem, at least Japan appears to be on our side.

Just be careful because you can crossrefrence a factory part number into
a fram or what ever walmart carries but just because a filter will fit on your motor
it might not be the same filter internally,(no anti drain back valve). I work at a NAPA and
we carry wix filters and I know wix actually has a application guide for atvs. these should be
completely identical to your factoy oil filter. Wix number for your Brute is a 51358

I agree with you there, I cut a bunch of different brands in half
at work one day and I would never run a fram filter on my vehicles
you definetely get what you pay for.

You are right Storj and DOVER. DO NOT use a fram. I wouldnt put one on a lawn mower, much less my atv or auto. Me and some of my old Street biking buddies did a test on filters, cut them open and did some research. Yamaha filters were ones in the past that I would buy an aftermarket for if I had a yamiha, but its been a while since we did the test, about 3 years, but the other, Kawi, Suzuki and honda, had/used really high quality filters. The after markets that i prefer are Wix, Purolator and a couple others.

The Purolator part # is 14612...same filter as a Mazda Miata 1.8L. The guy at Advance tried selling me a Fram and my exact words were "I don't want that POS."
