A question to see what other riders think of the Mobil 1 0-40 synthetic oil. Anyone else using it? Any positive/negative comments regarding it's use? I used it in my P700 & now in my 750i. The people I ride with are using it in their P700's, Grizzlys, Raptors & VForces. The idea as I understand it is that the most stressful time for the engine is when it is first cranked and before the oil can fully circulate. The 0-40 is supposed to alievate that issue because it has zero viscosity when cold. Just thought I'd bring it up. Good riding!

Is this oil made for automobiles? In other words does it contain Friction modifiers which will make your clutch slip. Why not use the mobile 1 MX4T which is made just for motorcycles and atv's. I use it in everything and it great stuff. In the middle of winter it starts right up and sounds like it's already warmed up. I'd go to Mobile 1 web site and read.

Couldn't have said it better than CamoKodiak. It's very improtant to use an oil designled for motorcycles/ ATV's because it's the same oil that lubes the transmission.........

Would the transmission advice apply to a CVT?

The only auto oils you really need to stay away from are the ones that are energy conserving. They contain friction modifiers like molybedenum which could "possibly" cause slipage in a wet clutch bike.It will state energy conserving in the API label. IMHO the best non atv oil to use is Mobile 1 15-50.

The low number is your base oil. The high number is what the oil is after all of the long polymer chains have elongated. These long chain molecules undergo mechanical shearing rather quickly so your 0-40 oil becomes 0-20 after awhile. Thats why it is really important to change oil more often in motorcycles and atv's than in cars. Heavy oils offer a greater level of protection then do low viscosity oils.

The Prairies do not have a wet clutch,so auto oil will be fine. I use mobil 1 15/50

I 2nd that. Auto oil (with proper viscosity) is just fine for P's which have CVT and it doesn't care what oil is used on engine. Synth oil is an exlnt choice for any engine that doesn't have wet clutch IMO. Heck, I even use that on my 5 hp B&S push lawn mower!
