Default 1998 Lakota - needs carb

Hello all,

I have a 1998 Lakota 300 and need a new carburetor. Is after market any different from OEM?? Mine has a Keihin CVK32 and I have had a difficult time locating one on the web. I've been to Thrifty Rider and Bike Bandit and so far they are the only ones that seem to have any carburetors but at close to $400 - I am looking for something less expensive if possible. Any info is greatly appreciated and thank you in advance for your responses!!

your in luck go to cycleworksracing.net...greg the owner of the site had a ton of aftermarket parts for the lakota...he has a 36mm carb and its only 145 bucks...you gain like 3hp gain from it too so its well worth the 150 dollar...i havent gotton around to it yet but pretty soon...but if you do get it, ask him for a mojave boot cuz the new carb is bigger than the stock boot on the lakota's old carb...also tell him to bend the throttle cable too cuz it hits the gas tank...good luck

If your not going to do any mods do not get the 36mm carb. Either get a stock one off ebay or a 34mm one off of a kawasaki mojave

yea i want to get some kind of bore kit in the near future...i was think maybe the 335 with the 11:1 ratio...but i want something that is gonna fly...you think greg at CWR would be the best place to get the big bore kit???im gettin a car now so most of my money is going towards that at the moment...i just dropped close to 1000 this past month with the axle tire, rims and spacers...so im trying to wait a little for my banks account to recover...but i want to get some kind of motor work pretty soon...

yea thats a good point about the carb...if your running a 100% stock motor and everything than that would probably not be the best thing...you might even lose power in this case...

O.k. - thank you so much for your fast responses. Would I still have to buy any extra parts for even a 34mm?? I e-mailed Greg about the 36mm one , so I will wait to see what he has left. I will check e-bay , too. Just want to get it up and running again......

I think you have to order the mojave intake boot but thats it.
Vunit Yea go for the big bore from cwr. If you tell him now that you would like the 350 kit(and yes your lakota will fly with that kit) then thats one more person added to the list. He needs like ten to start making them so the sooner the better. Im not very happy with my fst 345 kit i think it is a **** poor kit and thats the last thing i order from fst. I also am trying to pay for my car and gas for my truck and a big bore for my snowmobile so i dont have much money for the lakota to buy all new tires but oh well.

You will smoke more blasters then you can imagine. Just an example my quadsport would beat pipes blasters but just barley and most of it was the rider. But with my dad on the quadsport and me on my lakota(when it was stock) my dad could go half throttle and i would be full and he would stay right with me but now with the kit I raced him at the sand dunes up a hill and i was in third while he had to go into first. And in my kit i have low compression and gregs is high compression so it should give me 10 to 15 more hp(or so thats what my dad tells me) if i go with gregs kit.
