My new cams say not to use synthic oil in my 700 with the cams, what do you all think? will it hurt my V if I use my synthic?

 

You should never use synthetic on anything new. Go ahead and use regular oil for about 10 hours with the new cams then switch to synthetic. It actually works out good since you should change the oil and filter after the first 10 hours run time of the cam install anyway and regular oil is cheaper for just 10 hours use.

 

If the maker of the cams say no syn for break-in then don't use it for break-in. After a half an hour or so you go back to your favorite syn oil.
What ever you do, don't let that thing idle during break-in.

 

I used 20w-50 Castrol for 1hour of riding per Hotcams.Cams broke-in very smooth on the face of the lobes.

 

Just to make this as easy to understand as possible...synthetic oils are too slippery for two contacting items to break in a wear pattern properly. Once you have some time on them, then switch oils and you will be fine.

 

Also after you get done breaking them in and ride it a few times, don't forget to check the valves. I rode mine for around 20 hours or so before I checked the valves again and in that short amount of time they tightened up. If you don't recheck your valves you will not reap the full benifit of your cams.
