KFX 400 won't run without choke, any ideas?
#1
Hi,
I'm working on an 04 or 05 KFX 400. The bike won't run unless the choke is applied. The moment the choke is dialed off, the motor dies. I can try to keep it running without the choke on, but it eventually stalls.
I took the float bowl off, cleaned it out. It was a little varnishy. I took out the two screw in jets and cleaned those thoroughly. Reassembled everything and it still does the same thing.
The carb has an electrical connection on the clutch side. Does any one know what that is for?
Any ideas as to what could be causing the problem?

this all depends on how much fuel you have consumed the night before, if it was quality fuel or not also matters , perhaps you overendulged or should have tried not siping from the red river.

It would help us if you post what, if any, modifications are done to the bike and what the jetting specs are.
Sounds like it's an '05, they were the first year to get TPS, and that's what the electrical connector is on the carb. Your first step here is to remove the carb from the bike and thoroughly clean it. If it will only run with the choke in then it is a severe lean condition. If anything was modified then bigger jets are required here.

I got it running guys.
I took out the pilot for the third time, soaked it and blew it out with the compressor. Added some fresh fuel and it's running like a charm.
Thanks for all the replies!
