best deal that you've gotten on a used p650 or 700
Hey guys,
I'm selling my wolverine and will be purchasing a used prairie. I'm leaning toward a 700 but may get a 650 if I found one in great shape for a decent price. I love my wolverine but after riding a prairie I realized how far automatic quads have come. I was planning on giving the wolverine to my wife and getting a raptor 700. My wife drove a 650 praire and would rather have it so I decided to go ahead and make the switch before I get a raptor. (I also got tired of getting muddy when I drive any distance on a rainy day. Wolverines have sorry mud protection)
So, whats the best deals that you folks have found on 650s or 700s?

Bought a used 2002 P650 last February for $3K. It only had 405 miles on it at the time and came with lots of extras (pipe, full snorkels, skid pates, 27" tires, lift kit, lift spring, etc.).
Unfortunately, I later discovered some problems associated with the use of lift kit/big mud tires...so I spent $500 on worn out front end parts (tie rod ends, steering stem, ball joints, etc.) and just recently spent another $1K to rebuild the front diff (bolts came loose inside and tore up the gears, etc.). Along with the $1800 I spent on motor upgrades (hi comp pistons, hotcams, Dyna CDI, etc.) and new yellow plastic fenders, I know have close to $6500 invested. If I had to do it over, I would definitely AVOID buying a used 4x4 quad that had lift kit/large tires! Instead, I would have looked for a used 4x4 that was 100% stock and had been its entire life!
***NOTE: If you buy a used Prairie 650/700 or BF650, make sure the original steering knuckles have already been replaced under the RECALL. If you buy one without the recall work already done, you can expect it to be SEVERAL months before your local Kaw. dealership gets enuf recall parts to replace the ones on your Prairie or BF650.
Good luck in your purchase and happy trails...

Thanks for the replies,
Hey Mikey: I agree with what you said about not getting a used mudder (ie. lift kit and huge tires). I would not be interested in that in the least. Thanks for the info on the recall.
Any others care to tell what price you paid for a nice used unit?
