Default exhaust mods for praire 650

figuring to get a new pipe for my prairie 650 but was wondering if anyone has done a mod on a stock pipe. Just thought I'd give it a try before I bought a new one. I had a friend with a grizzly and he drilled like 6 5/8" holes in the baffle or plate in the middle of the pipe. Anyway it really sounded great and had a bit more power. Any help would be great!!

just be careful not to remove open it up too much. v-twins almost always need a little back pressure to make power, and an exhaust that flows too much will accually cost you power. you will most likely have to re-jet your carbs and you should do any intake mods you have planned at the same time so you will only have to re-jet the carbs once.

I have a Prairie 700 with a HMF slip on Utility series, K & N, Moose plug in (CDI Box?), and the jets that HMF recomended for my machine. It sounds great and runs even better. HMF guys are great to work with and they answer the phone. HMF is a great bang for the buck as well.

I suggest HMF as well. As far as intake mods, a good start is a Twin Air or K&N filter.

I have a new with a few handling marks, nothing bad, Penland utility series aluminum slip on muffler for the 650 Prairie cheap.

I did the Nyroc mod on my stock muffler. Go to Nyroc's web site and look it up.
You cut off end of muffler, then drill 6 or 8 half inch holes length wise through muffler. Open end of muffler up and weld end back on, rejet, K&N airfilter, and ride. Made a big differance on mine. At the above web sit there is tons of Kaw info on your quad, Oil filter numbers and things.

Good Luck.....

Moose and CDI and several others make a plug in ignition box. Intake? a re-jet and a K&N filter. I am going to do a clutch kit in mine next. Good Luck
