Kawasaki brakes

I have a question about how to adjust the front brakes on a Kawasaki Pararie 300 atv.
When pushing the atv without the engine running I can hear a metal on metal scraping sound coming from the front. So I tookoff the front tires and noticed that the brake pads are in contact with the rotor without any pressure being applied to the brake lever. Also, I took out one of the brake pads and squeezed the brake lever. The caliper grabbed the rotor without a brake pad in and did not release it when I let go of the lever. What is my problem here? Is there a way to adjust the brakes so they release or is the caliper bad?
Thanks and happy holidays,
Mark

nope. you are fine as long as the pads are not worn down. the disc brakes are always in very light contact. there is nothing to pull the pads from the disc. this is how they all are from cars and trucks to my Harley and Brute. they do make a sound when moving but when running cannot usually be heard.
