Default BF750 Gas Tank question

What in the heck is that white tube for in my gas tank?? Its a pain filling it up while riding. What I have been doing is pulling it our then putting fuel in my tank and re-installing the tube.

I know what tube you are refering to. My guess would be that it is a splash guard.

i think that it is supposed to limit how much fuel you can squeeze into your tank, so there will be room for expantion when the fuel warms up. there was a thread somewhere earlier about this where one guy just threw his away and had no problems at all. i think if you leave some air space in the tank you are fine doing that.

yep, it's to keep a bit of air at the top of the tank. You can get an extra 1/2 gallon or more in there by removing it. One time I did that I noticed gas was being purged out a plastic overflow line up by the handlebars and was dripping down by my steering post. It was very hot out that day. It usually doesnt do that. That seems to be the only downside to removing the tube.

Thanks!! What I did was remove mine and drill some holes in it. What a pain trying to fill up when stopping along the trail at a gas station. We fill up 3 or more times a day at different stations and I am always the slowest one as gas always overflows out the top of the tank. I then wait a second and begin again. If I just stopped when the pump kicked off I would only put about 2.5 gallons in my tank when it was almost empty. I will try my method and see how that works and then I will just remove it altogether. Thanks a million my fellow ATV'ers

All I do is remove the "White Tube" during fill-ups, makes it fill real fast, then I reinsert the white tube. By removing the "White Tube" during fill-ups I can get the hole 5.4 gallons of Gas in the Tank.
Before it was a pain to top off the gas tank with the "White Tube" in place.
Before I could go 17 miles before I dropped down one bar on the Gas Guage, now I can get 29 miles before I drop down one bar and all b/c I remove the "White Tube" during fill-ups.
FYI: My BF750 is avg 17mpg w/the Moose Module/Twin-air Filter, everything else is stock including the tire size.

I just take it out when filling too, it comes out real easy with two fingers if you do it before you get gas on it.

I just took my tube out yesterday and cut a small "V" notch on the top edge so I can easily get my thumb nail under the edge to remove it before refueling.

One of the problems I was having besides the lack of fuel was that it would splash out when refueling covering my rear rack bag. I tried the removal method but at times it seemed the tube was very tight and normally my hands were not the cleanest. I drilled about 2 dozen 3/8 holes in the tube. The problem with that was the tube is made out of some sort of plastic/nylong material and it had alot of hair like fibers that were still stuck around the holes. For this I just hit them lightly with a small butane torch and waala, hair is gone. I thought about using the wifes Epi-lady for legs but then figured that it dont work for her application so it probally wont work for mine.
