I want to get a quad in the next couple weeks and I was debating between the lakota and a recon. My question is will the lakota be loud like a sport quad and not very good for hunting.

Man, I DIG my Lakota. It's not very loud stock - no more than any other quad. In my opinion, it is the best middle-of-the-road quad, if you desire racks and a non-automatic ATV. As far as sporty, it will move pretty good with chain drive, and has really good suspension travel, to be considered a utility bike. It will also except modifications well, if you should ever choose to "hop it up".
Good luck.

with stock exhaust the lakota is pretty quiet. you will be happier with it than a recon I think. when not hunting, this is an excellent trail bike, and it will handle 2'-3' of air no problem...........the air filter sucks, but not that big of a deal really............keep in mind, this is coming from a Honda guy!

It is not loud at all. You can even get front and rear racks, unless you buy the 2000. I own the 2001. I love this quad! i think it is perfect for me. the shock travel is great, the throttle response is quick, the disc brakes are great, i like the look, of course! Superb handling on the trails! You have to know i am comparing with my traded quad, a 2000 Bayou 220. I only do trail riding, and I am not a speed demon. I wish i had bought this one the first time! ENJOY! Personally i think it is a good choice!

mine seems quite a bit louder than my friends grizzly, big bear(our huntig machines) but i would say its not too loud for hunting unless you want to stalk with it. if thats the case then you should get a banshee so you can run the deer over before they hear you! good luck hunting, i miss those PA whitetails!
