The Kodiac I had weighed only 36lbs more, as I recall from a few months ago when the new Wolverine was first anounced It looked like my old kodiac with new plastic and smaller tires, so I started digging into the spec's of the old SRA kodiac vs the new Wolverine. It was clear they were the same machine other than the tires and plastic. I also recall the new 450 wolverine has only 420cc compared to the kodiac I had that had 401cc's. I sold that kodiac to a buddy of mine and the Prairie 650 just waxes the poor Kodiac. Its not even in the same ballpark as the Prairie. I myself out way my buddy buy more than 50 pounds and its not even funny how bad the prairie beats the Kodiac. I have a hard time beleaving the new Wolverine version even with the diet and the extra 19cc's is realy going to make much differnce. I know the tires are going to be a little bit better in the weight department but I doubt the old dunlops that are on my old Kodiac weigh more than a pound or so more than the new wolverine tire. The unsprung weight is more important than the sprung weight, but even that small gain is IMO not likely to make up much of the ground needed to run with a P650, or a P700. It I think you would be facing an uphill battle the whole way to getting much in the way of Kawi twin performance out of the Wolverine.

CC1999,
I'm sure you are correct....I certainly have no doubts that a stock Wolverine 450 will get blown away by a P650 or P700 in a drag race and most likely on a XC course too if there's at least a few straights for the P650 to pass it. The only way I would seriously want to buy and race a Wolverine 450 would be if I intended to get the FST 500cc BBK for it immediately. The biggest problem I seen now is that a Wolverine 450 MSRP is $6000 (I'm guessing the dealers are not comming off that price much b/c its so new) and by the time you dump another $2000 for the BBK, you could have spent the same $$$ on a new Bomb 800! I guess if the Wolverine 450 was a lot cheaper, then I'd give it more thought...but right now I can't see spending that kind of money on a Wolverine (including BBK) without knowing for sure if it will actually keep up with the P650/P700s on the XC course.
I still have high hopes that the BF650i (with its motor and suspension/steering upgrades) will be a serious contender on the XC course (hoping it will be a vast improvement in handling over the BF750).
Happy trails...

MikeBoy, i had a reply on the 650 Q, but my computer locked up. i dunno how the 650i compares to the 750 because i haven't ridden a 750, and none of my riding buddies have one either. our trails arn't real race friendly either, but the Brute seems to turn nicely in close quarters. there has been a couple of guys really braggin' up the 650i on the boards, but to be honest, there is too much snow around here on my trails to run on, so i haven't really done much but run around on the roads. my other atv is a Suzuki Quadrunner 250 4X4, so the brute is in a whole different catagory. i'll have more feedback when i can get onto the trails. i think mine is gonna morph into a crawler over time, but i'ts still pretty much stock now. i'm taking it to Moab next month, so i'll probably have some mods in mind when i get back. i think maybe Elkas when my tax refund gets here... we'll see if i can make that work.
