Brute Force 750 static timing.

Static timing?
It's 5 deg. BTDC at idle if that's what you mean.
Everything you ever wanted to know about BF timing can be found at the link below. It's a pdf file so give it a minute to load.

Thank you very much.this is helpful but I wanted to know where the timing is set on the crank.Example:set at exactly TDC.Then all the retard or advance is in the CDI box.Or is the 5deg BTDC where the trigger activates the pickup and the rest of the advance is in the CDI box.The VDI site says the box holds the timing to that 5deg BTDC till 1500-2000rpm.Im on boost by then so the stock advence is "probably" what I need but I wanted more advance before I came on boost then bring it back to 26-22 deg for antidetonation.I would like to put it around 32-36 at idle right up till I start building boost. Can this be done with the VDI?I have put off buying it because of this.Thank you for any help you can give me on this.

i don't have the VDI but i think if you get the otional programing package you can make any timing map you need with you PC.
BTW i wanna see pics of your turbo set-up. what are you using for fuel delivery? single carb? EFI? are you using an intercooler? stock pistons?
do you have a thread going on your project that i missed? (or web site?) this sounds like something you should share with us.

Just as soon as I get the film developed I will be posting pictures.I am usung stock carbs and stock pistons. No intercooler yet.I just got it going about a month ago.Broke something in the trans today and had to go to work before I could look into what it was.I am hoping it was just the belt.Lots of chatter started coming out of the clutch area at low speeds, but then would go away after I got going. So I think (hope) the belt broke.getting new primary spring(red).Hopping that will keep the cluth from chattering.I dont know if I should go stiffer or not,I guess Ill find out.Pictures coming soon though.I dont have a web site or a thread on the project. It only took 2 days to do.Very easy. The motor is only 8:1 compression so it lends itself to turbo charging very easily. If you have any questions E-mail me.Ill be more than happy to help you out with them.

Kawturbo,
Can't wait to see the pics!
BTW, I'm taking a wild guess here...but your transmission chatter as you call it might possibly be caused by the gear shifter being out of alignment. I have an 02 P650 (same transmission as on your BF750) and it once chattered(sort of a gear grinding sound) at idle whenever I first put it in gear, but then the sound disappeared as soon as I gassed it. Once I removed the middle plastic and adjusted the gear shifter, the sound disappeared. You might try that to see if your chatter goes away.
Good luck with the turbo project...it sounds VERY interesting. The only other "turbo" project I've seen recently was done by a guy on another atv forum about a year ago...he basically connected his Kaw. V-force 700 CVT exhaust hose to his airbox and voila...Instant Turbo! He even posted a video (that I watched) of him riding it up and down his street. The sound of the motor was very different...you could tell it was no longer naturally aspirated. In any case, the poor guy didn't get his jetting rich enuf and I heard he blew the motor after only a month. I hope you are able to get the jetting and ignition timing worked out. I would think the (programmable) VDI ignition would be just the ticket for your set-up.
Could you please give us some details of how you connected the turbo to your BF750? Where did you find a Turbo charger to fit on the V-twin and how did you run the hoses? What jetting are you using with it and how does much stronger does it run with the Turbo versus before you installed it?
Happy trails...

With the porgrammer, you can add or subtract advance with the VDI Copperhead. I looked at the BF750 Sevice Manual and could not find the static timing anywhere.

Thank you very much.If the VDI keeps the timing at 5deg at idle, and that cant be changed that might just as well be the static timing.I have just ordered it so no biggie.I started a thread on the turbo I will run through the fabrication of it and post pictures when I get the film.Thank you for all your help.
