Default Cannot Locate Windshield for 06 BF 650 Help!

Hi Guys,

I am about to pull my hair out. I cannot locate a windshield that will fit a 2006 BF 650. The only thing I come across is awindshield that will fit a Prairie 650 and 700. They have one at Cabela's, made by Maiers, that might fit, but does not mention the 06' in the models list. I really want to purchase one, so could someone pleaes offer some help!

Thanks in advance,

Bubba

Bubba,
With a little rebending of the support brackets I was able to fit the Cabela's windshield on my 06 750.
(It probably took me 1 to1-1/2 hours to modify/rebend in a vice to make it fit)
That same windshield fits my buddies 02 650 Praire(no rebending) and 04 700 Praire(some rebending).
You will like the 1/4 turn wing nuts used for attaching the windsheild to the mounting brackets as it only takes about a minute to attach.
The instruction manual says you should limit speeds to approx 50 mph. yeah right.
I forgot to remove mine when trailering mine once and noticed it when driving down the road at 65mph.
No problem.
You won't believe how much warmer it is with it installed.

Hope this helps

PS I'm originally from Eau Claire. I live in LaCrosse now. Where do you ride?

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the tips. I talked to Kawasaki and the guy said that they are really slow in coming up with new accessories. They have to go through a stringent testing process and it takes 16 weeks. I don't have a ton of mechanical skills bending and such, so I think I will wait for the proper windshield to come out. A windshield is an absolute must for me, as you are right, it is a lot less cold around here.

I just moved to Eau Claire, so I haven't ridden much. The short jaunt I did have, we went to Chetek and tooled around on the lakes and such. How did you like living in Eau Claire? So far, I think it is a pretty good town.

I lived in Eau Claire for the first twenty years of my life. I have a lot of relatives that still live there. I would have stayed in Eau Claire if I could have found a job in my field there.
If you want to travel a bit to ride, Clark County and Jackson County near Black River Falls have quite a few miles to ride. We usually go on those trails every 1-2 months.

Dave,

Looks like I will have to some sort of rebending of the hardware to make this thing work. The thing that sucks is that I really didn't want to cut into the green plastic housing over the speedometer. Oh well, it is better than taking dragon flies in the teeth at 50 miles an hour. LOL
