Praire700/King Quad?
Sorry to post this in more than one forum, but I am looking to buy pretty soon and want some info. I have been searching for used quads and I think I finally decided on getting a new one.
I've been seeing Advertised prices and they come pretty close between these two. Also I could get a regular 650 Brute Force. I've been doing a lot of searching through this site and I fould it to be great. Here's what I need to know.
I want a fun 4x4 quad. I like to hit some mud and also there are some trails that me and my friends take that a 2x4 would simply not make it. However, I don't live or work on a farm and I don't hunt. I don't need a utility quad for anything other than 4x4 capabilities. I've read that the praire 700 is a pretty fun utility quad but I think that the Wolverine definatly fits that bill. My question is this. I know the Wolverine would be fun to ride but would I be dissapointed with the power output compared to the Praire or BF? I am used to riding an Arctic Cat 650 IRS and also and Bomb. 800. I also like to jump a little bit too. Nothing major just maybe a couple feet in the air every once in a while. I also like to drive fast. I am coming from fast cars and always am looking for a little more once I get used to it. I don't like the handling of my buddies A.C. at all. That thing just wants to push and not do anything fun at all. Also, how do these quads rank in durabilty and reliabilty? I would like to think atv's made these days would be pretty good but what about these specific one's. Also, I am 5'11' 240 lbs. I've sat on all these in the showroom and seem to fit them all pretty well so I don't think that would be a major desision.
I've also been looking at King Quads but there seems to be some reliabilty issue's. I am close to extreme and they have some on ebay out the door for around 6300 which is the price I can get on the praire 700 so I'm not sure now.
Thanks!

you cant miss with either of them, the prarie would be best for your trial riding in my opinion, but if you ever decided to hit the mud you'll wish you had the IRS of the king. or even BF650i I think with the wolverine you would be really dissapointed with the power especially for a bigger guy. or you could always go numb with fear at all times and buy the brute 750 lol being addicted to speed you definatly need to go with the kawi's because there are so many aftermarket add-ons and flexiblity with making them faster.

I kinda want everything, haha. I'm thinking the Praire. Like you said, I want speed, but I want to be able to handle that speed with good handling, kicking out the rear-end etc.. How much better is the Praire than the BF750 or the Kind Quad for that matter. I'm really leaning toward Kawasaki in general just because me and my friends have always thought of them as a better quality than Suzuki. I know I can change the air cleaner on the King Quad, but it's first year build that the prices are on (05's) and there just seems to be a lot of posts about different little problems. I'm not seeing that with Praire posts.

I already replied with a thousand words on the other forum. This time I'll use one picture. That ATV is now an 800cc Prairie, but the picture was taken while it was still a 700. Power is fun

For you, get the the Prairie 700. It is a great sport/utility. It has the sra rear end which will let you get the rear end out just like a sport. There are many mods for the prairies. Also, many people are gonna try to say bf because of its power and yada yada but stick with with prairie. I think the bf is great but since your a sporty rider, the prairie will excell much better in this catagory. By the way, if you get a kawasaki, remember when you are not flying up and down the trails in high gear, always use low for going slow, climbing, pulling, mudding, and heavy weights etc so you dont wear the belt out early. As long as you do that, youll have no probs from the reliable prairie.

The prairie has awesome power. It is a very fun bike to play on. I have to say that the 350 wolverine was more fun to jump and slide around on vs. the Prairie (I installed a 424 on my wolverine). The Prairie just feels more tippy. The power difference isn't even worth comparing though. The p700 is on par with a 400ex and the wolverine is more like a 300ex.
As for the king quad, I have not been on one but have heard good things from a guy that has two.
I've seen 05 p700's selling for 5500 + freight and setup. Not bad considering the msrp of 7100.

I would get the King It slides with the best, Its faster than it feels, It even beat the 700 p in the the drag race pulling the sled (ATV Action). It handles better than any Kawi. It has EFI But you do have to buy a new air filter before you ride.It also has a real locker in the front one thing the kawi does not have. I do like the Kawi locker for most stuff but in the real hard stuff it sucks. I also hate the vibration from the kawi motor you can feel it in your feet as the rpm goes up. I have not had one problem with my King and its a early 05. The Outty is cool but the price is hard to justify.I will say I realy like mine ,but if I had to pick only one I would take the King. The ergo's on the King are perfect for ME. I just think that you should look into the King,or maybe the AC 700 EFI. If you have the money take a look at the Outty 800

Are P700 slower in the States? I haven't seen a King past my 700 yet and my 700 is almost stock. But come on guys any 500+ cc machine in most cases are fast enough. As far as handleing on aggressive trails I think the solid axle is my choice doesn't mean that yours should be. I personally feel for the riding style I have and the hours log on an atv a indepenant wouldn't be as dependant as a strait axle.... time will tell. Alot of people here are very happy with their 700 King, just like I'm happy with my 700P....

I would go with the Kawasaki. I have a BF750 and I love it. My brother and I were both looking at new quads at the same time, he went with the KQ.
Suzuki builds a nice bike, this BF is the first one I have owned that wasn't Suzuki. When it came down to it the power output on the Kawasaki was far greater than the KQ. A good buddy of mine has the Prairie 700 and it definately has a sportier feel to it than my BF.
Both the Kawi and the KQ have their ups and downs but overall I haven't regretted the BF one bit.
