Default Upcomming Race

Heres the deal. My buddies are going to the dunes and my bud wants to run my KFX-700 with his new raptor 700. My KFX has Dual Yoshis, Big Gun Over rev, dalton orange blue spring, K&N filter and Sand Star paddles. His is bone stock and no paddles. Do I have a chance in an 1/8th mile? Not trying to start a big flame, becuase I am well aware of the fact I can lose, I just am curious to know whats gonna happen before hand.

This ones right up my alley. I ride with my cousin who ownes a rappy 700. My V had pretty much the same mods as yours and the Rappy was stock. On the flat drags, I could pull a slight holeshot and stay ahead of him for about 300 feet. After that distance, the raptor comes alive and passes my V like it's standing still. Keep in mind that's on the flats. On the sand hills, the 300 feet advantage is cut down to more like 200 feet due to the weight of the V. This will more than likely be the case with you even though the raptor does not have paddles. There's just too much of a weight difference. I got tired of getting beat, so I broke down and bought a big bore kit. It was money well spent. Raptor 700's are not a threat anymore. Even on the top end. From my own experience, you'll need alot more than a 6* key to be a contender with a rappy 700. All the key did for me was give the V sharper throttle response and made it easier to start when cold.

My buddy has a Raptor 700 and that ***** is fast stock. I agree that is will take more than the 6 degree key and the mods you have. I have seen some POed V drivers after racing him.

Thats pretty crazy... I thought my bike was pretty fast but wow.. Im not gonna be mad if he beats me becuase there will always be something faster and we are good friends so its really not a big deal, i just wanted to know what was gonna happen. I look forward to running him and seeing what happens. About that timing advance, it looks a little to hard to install for me, is that something that the dealer would install if i asked them to? Also, just how significant are the gains you would achieve with the advance timing key. I can get it for like 20 bucks so maybe its worth it.

Really, the main difference is the tires, if you have paddles and he doesnt, then you have a huge advantage. Though it has to be nice soft sugar sand, no hard compacted stuff, or else he will have tremendous grip.
