Overheating
#1
went for a ride today and ran into a problem, the temperature was about 80 and i was traveling beween 10-40 mph. my temperature light started flashing. I stopped and waited until the fan turned off and light went out i then drove for about 5 minutes and it happened again. i checked all fluids oil and coolant before leaving to go riding like i always do and all were good. i looked in the manual and it said to check the radiator to see if it was blocked and it was clear. so what was to be a fun day turned out to be a bad one.
If anyone has any idea on what is going on with my machine please let me know, i'm a little worried. I have a 2005 Prarie 700 4x4.

You said the fan was running so the temp sender is working. Check to make sure no hoses are kinked or pinched. Also check if there is any air pockets in the system. And the water pump is circulating coolant. If you have or can get your hands on infared temp gun check to make sure it is actully over heating. and check temp drop across the radiator.

Thanks for the input, I removed the plastic side panal and looked at the back of my radiator, it was filled with mud and dirt. It looked from the front as if was clean, boy was I wrong. I ran it today and it is hot and very humid. The fan never came on and it was not putting a lot of heat out. I wish I didn't have to go to work now or I'd be riding. Guess I'll have to remove the panels and clean the back of the radiator every month. Thanks again for your help.
