Default mojave dies in water

something gets wet on the mojave in stream crossings and it dies, after it dies it's real difficult to re-start.

Happened 3 times today and had to be bump-started because it wouldnt kick start.

sometimes it's fine in water sometimes something gets wet and it just dies or runs rough. some guy helped me get it out today on a red sportsman 800, if you're a member here thanks for the help dude.

anyway any ideas on what to check, whatever it is when it gets wet the mojave wont start by kick start.

mine will do that to, but not often enough to figure it out. I just set for about 15 minutes, fires up and runs great. I've had the fenders under water and it came out fine, a little later barley half way up the wheels and it stalled. I'll bet it is the cdi box or wires getting wet. I know that aint much help but it is somthing to check out.

It might be the spark plug cap. My dads cr 125 does that. He goes ripping through a puddle the size of a car tire and water gets under the boot and the bike shuts off and is hard to start for at least 15 mins trying to kick then if you pop start it it will fire rite up. Weird! Check the spark plug cap to see if its loose on the plug that might be the issue hear.

Well, how deep of water do you go into for it to die?

Ohh, good. Then I know what the problem is. My kfx did the same thing. Water went up to the spark plug. After that it wouldnt start. After waiting 15 minutes for the spark plug area to dry out, and taking off the spark plug wire and kinda drying it out or off, I put it back in. And it started right up. My thery is that the water some what diverts the electricity used to create the spark. A type of short. Thus preventing the bike from starting.
