Default 2005 Brute 650 SRA

Is this a good quad? I found a new left over for a good price. Just want to make sure there weren't any issues with this bike. Have their been any changes from 2005 to 2007? What are the main weaknesses of this bike? Is it a good transmission? Is there issues with the belt's? I had an Arctic Cat 400, and then a King QUad that had numerous recalls, reverse issues etc...Nothing too serious but my dealer was a pain to deal with. I'm looking for a solid trouble free machine....I don't want to take it to the dealer 5 times a year. .I think I want SRA as I do more play than work.....and I like the simplicity. What's the low down on this model and year.

Thanks!!

It's the same basic bike as the original 650 prairie. There never were any real problems with it but any minor ones have long since been ironed out. If you like the handling of a sra machine then I would strongly recommend the 650 brute. The only thing aggravating is the limp mode. It happens on most models somewhere around 100 hours, and is a basic reminder to check the belt, although if you are far from the house or truck you'll be cussing it when it happens. Personally I recommend doing a check on your belt everytime you change the oil. If you kepp an eye on your belt. I'd get a vdi or dyna cdi. Both do away with the limp mode and will really wake up the performance. It's not that the belts are bad or weak it's just the kawi v twins make alot of power and it's easy to wear them out if you like to let the hammer down I also had a 400 AC and have rode with some 700 KQ's. The power and handling is far superior to both. Just my opinions.

They are the same machine with the exception of plastic and the 700 has a slightly larger bore and stroke. The 650 brute plastic is much stronger than the 700. There is a little power difference between the 650 & 700 but with a dyna cdi and a little clutch work the 650 can run with and outrun the 700.
