Default Mods...where to buy and what to buy? BF650

I posted a question like this a week or so ago, but didn't get many replies....What exhuast sounds good on the BF 650 and where do I buy it? Where is the cheapest place? Also, about CDI boxes, where is the best place to buy this? Will I feel a noticable difference?

I want more power, but don't want to risk hurting my bike....I want an exhuast that gives me more HP, but don't want something really loud and does anyone make just a slip on muffler that sounds good and gives hp?

Thanks,
Adam

It would help to let us know what BF650 you have, the SRA OR IRS. Most all the BF750i upgrades will fit the 650i and about 99% of the Prairie mods will fit the BF650 SRA. I use and really like the Procircut full system exhaust, kand N filters are a must for me, Dyna and VDI CDI's both affer good perforance gains as well. How much are you wanting to spend?

atvoutfitters.net is a good place to check out. But if they have anything your interested in call Matt. He will usually give lower prices over the phone.

Thanks for the help....mine is the SRA 650.

I don't want to spend a ton of money, but I'm willing to do what's necessary to do it right the first time, if you know what I mean.

A cdi will do wonders for you. Dyna or VDI your choice but check them both out. A k&n, aftermarket exhaust, there are several models avaliable, and clutch springs will be your best bang for the buck. I haven't done any reserch on exhaust systems but I believe cc1999 has so I would take his advice.

I think one of the nice features procircut includes in there pipe kit is the stainless head pipes. I know with the suppertrap I had on my P650 in the beginning it was a slip on pipe only which leave the rust prone factory head pipes in place. The IDSX slip on really did very little for increasing power, something like 1-2hp where the full Procircut system added more like 4-5hp. Now that said with the slip on no jetting was needed. When adding everything be prepaired to rejet or you might actualy loose power and run hot (lean). You can potentialy add 7-8hp by adding the following items. CDI, procircut exhaust, jet kit, K&N filter, with 8-10 1" holes in airbox lid. Keep in mind the 650 prairie/BF650SRA has about 27hp at the wheels stock, so a 7hp gain is 25% more power and you will be able to notice it. Doing just a slip on pipe only you might think there is gain because it makes more noise but on dyno there is not much proof of it.

CDI= $250-300
procircut exhaust system= $450-500
jet kit = $50-100
k&n filter = $50
airbox holes = $0

So you are looking at about a $1000.00 for gain in power of around 25%

You can then take it another step further and really turn some heads with a 20-30 shot Nos system for another $750.00 or so. That will give you a total of almost double your stock HP.

You can then go even onother step and put in a BIG BORE STROKER 900 kit and spend about $4000.00 more and combine it all together for around a 90-100hp setup if all goes well.

Fastfatboy, what clutch setup are you running, and what did you get from it, ie more top or bottom or mid. From the few combo's I have tried and I do mean few. I have noticed I always seem to be giving up somthing in other areas. my 800 BB is still got the stock clutch in it. I need a top end style clutch for racing to maybe help keep the front end down, I thought if I changed anything that might let the front wheels stay on the ground a little better, but on the other hand if I just want to pop it up and ride down the side of a dune then that is fun too. Ya see thats why I have not changed mine in the 800, I can't make up my mind what I want to give up to gain somewhere else. Has that been your experince too, thats its always a give and take kinda deal, or have you found a good combo that gives you what you want all the time.

The CDI is 179 on Ebay, and the person selling them is trustworthy
