Default New 06 BF 650 SRA!!!

Thanks to this forum I feel I have made an excellant choice with a 06 BF 650. I do wonder if anyone else has had trouble with the seat staying latched, and if so what can I do to fix it?

Congrats on your excellent choice.
There are 3 places that have to hook up under the seat (flip it over and look). The most difficult or troublesome spot is the center black plastic tab or tongue. It must be inserted "under" the frame bracket. If the plastic tab goes "over" the frame backet, the seat will slide out while you are riding. Get a heat gun and the bend the plastic tab so that it has more of attack of angle for easier insertion. Then, try to latch the seat from the rear of the vehicle and try to slight bend (flexing down) the seat in the middle. Always try to lift up the seat after, checking to make sure the seat does NOT come off.
Good Luck.

Thanks! I will give that a try. I just bought it on Saturday and have riden it every night. So far I am very happy with my choice. I can't wait for the break in period to be over so I can see what this machine can really do.

I wanted to reiterate what Hayashi said. I wasn't lining up the middle tab all the way and I nearly lost the seat!

I had that problem for the first few days. After some miles the seat settled down. Now it doesn't come unhooked anymore. As far as break-in period I was WOT right after she came off the trailer. Just very speed and RPM's for the first few rides, no reason you cant hit the gas and see what she does.

Thanks num482 I was wondering if it would hurt to give it a little gas.

Most would say the opposite. If you ride it gingerly the piston rings won't seat properly and then you will not have the same power out of it as the guy who 'RODE IT LIKE HE STOLE IT" right from the start.
I rode mine just like I do now from minute one, don't be afraid to open it up...they like it!!!
