Default Tires for BF 650 with

I am looking and researching all the options for tires and rims. My biggest problem is the size of the tire since stock is 25x8-12/25x10-12 Dunlops. (stock tires/rim suck) I have already put on 300 miles with 8 flats and beat up rims. No I don't ride hard just alot of rocks and mountain climbing.

My riding style would be:

40% Mountain/Rock climbing
40% Trails/High speed
10% Mud
10% Sand

I can't make my mind rather I should get radial tires 6 ply or just 6 ply non-radial for my heavy BF 650. Should I just go Mud Lites XXL or XTR? I think it would be wise to stay with 25 inch tires for CVT purposes unless I am mistaken that larger tires will strain the CVT and lost of power? My stock rims bend so easy from rocks sliding thur the tire/rim. What should I replace the rim with Douglas or ITP? I am willing to look at other brands that I may not be aware of.

Thanks for all your input!

I upgraded to 14 inch wheels and went to the mudlite xtr's.... The radials are so nice for the high speed trail riding, not to bad in the rocks and more than enough for the mud.... I think the big key though is the 14 inch wheel over the stock 12 inch.

Go with the bighorns. For your type of riding that is the best tire out there.

Maxxis Bighorn radials coming up for $332.00 shipped. Is this a good price for 25x8-12 & 25x10-12 2x rear and front?

What rims would you guys pick?

I'm running ITP Type 7 C Series. Curious as to why you wanted to stay with the 25 inch tires?

I wanted to stay with the same variable geometry and not increase the strain on the CVT belt. I am just being cautious about adding more strain on the CVT belt. I ride real hard on my quad. I have only had my quad for 31 days and it doesn't even look new anymore. The engine has about 25 hours with 320 miles on the clock. I am always climbing large mountains with large chucks of rocks.

26 inch tires would be nice if they installed the 650 BF with the 750 BF CVT technology. The 750 belt is thicker and can tolerate 26 inch tires easier than the belt on the 650. I could use the 26 inch tires on my 650 but I am going to have to replace the CVT belt often due to my riding style and road abuse. I would rather play it safe and stay with 25 inch tires due to less roll force required.

Anyway you can check and see if the 750 cvt fits on the 650? I know the belts on the 750 are real easy to change and not overly expensive

Hey believe it or not...I really didn't think about checking to see if a few parts can be exchanged from the 750 CVT bolt on to the 650 CVT system. I think that's a great idea to check into. I should know 100% tomorrow if that is possible to do?
