Snow Riding?

Just stay on the already packed trials, even the 4x4 can only go through so much powdered snow. I when on a nice long snowmachine ride the other day through miles of trails and across many lakes and I did not see a section a 2x4 ATV would not of made it also.

Snow chains work wonders. These can make 2x4 go through stuff the 4x4's would do. I had a 2x4 Polaris with chains and used it to plow my driveway then went and pulled the kids on the tube with it.

Hello, I had a 220 2x4 2002 Bayou and I worked it very hard. It held up but I was dissappointed with snow traction. I used a set of chains which did increase the grab in 6" or less of snow but when the season dragged on an the snow deepened and the first layer of snow near the ground became packed, then she would really start to fail even with the chains. Never kept up with the 4x4's and forget it if you try to turn. Stay on packed snow. Chains do help but limited and they are the cheapest...my friend just purchased a new set of mud tires and he used to use chains on his 4x4 because our trails were so bad. Now with these new mud tires he's had a very large improvement, way more than chains. If you have the money , buy a pair of muds on separate rims.

what i do in deep snow is keep it in a high gear and full throttle, that works for me. my kfx has a bunch more power than that bayou though

Your snow must be different than ours then. If you had a 1000cc KFX with twin turbo's and 4wd you would not make it 5 feet with that method up here.
