KFX400/KFX700
#1
Heres the deal.
We are shopping for a quad for my wife, 2 things I am hoping to avoid are 2strokes and manuals. However not many Automatics are around in a sport and we would like to stay Kawasaki. Now the 700 is an auto, which is idea, plenty of power, and 4stroke. BUT the single most important thing IF you intend to ride a lot is the seat. If your seat is not comfortable then your day is over fast if you get some chafage going on.
Now on the other hand, the KFX400 has a perfect seat that she is comfortable with, but it is a manual. The KFX700 seat is too narrow in back and she does not like it, so........
The big Q.
Will the rear plastics and seat from a KFX400 fit onto a KFX700? We are looking at 2005/2006 models. By comparison I can see a lot of similarities that say it is probable, though without an interchange or someone who has done it prior I may buy a quad she will not enjoy.
Thanks for looking ^^

Im a bit confused with the reply as in "No they are not..."?? I dont recall saying they are the same machines, just asking if there was any possible interchange on the rear plastics between the two thats all ^^ The rear plastics on both machines have "comparable" lines, as in the seperation between the front and rear plastics being nearly the same angle ect. Even in the event the mounts were incorrect between the two, her father is a machinist by trade, however there is no use to try IF the plastics wont even fit on the 700. Thats all I am seeking.
Thanks ^^

The seat on the KFX700 wraps up around the air box...which on the 400 doesn't happen...it stops at the fuel tank. With the V you sit on the fuel tank. You can modify the stock seat to make it more comfortable...take the stock cover off, trim the foam and add some gel pads for comfort and then recover with an aftermaket cover...I did this on my KTM 640 Adventure...night and day difference. You can try to change the plastic but you'll end up doing a lot more work...besides the mounts you'll have to trim for the fuel cap in the back. The 400 seat will not wrap up and over the air box so you'll have to modify the air box cover...etc...

So on the V the fuel tank is relocated ect. I was aware the V seat went much higher where the gas cap usually is, though if the tank is not in the norm place (I have yet to physically look at a V as yet) then yes, I see where the problems come from. So replacing just the rear plastics would be a pain. I will look into modding the current seat and using a aftermarket cover as you suggested, they are not so bad on price and will probally prove more cost effective than changing rear plastics.
Thanks a bunch
