brute force 2wd/4wd selector switch problems
#1
I have an '06 BF750 that had the wiring harness recall performed at the stealer back in September. When I picked it up and got it home, I noticed the 4wd didn't work anymore and I called them back and told them. They said it was the actuator, because "it sounded funny when it was up here anyway". At any rate, I haven't done much riding until now, so I just replaced the actuator this week, and....still nothing. No flashing dash lights between 2wd/4wd as one would expect if the actuator were actually out. Oh, it WAS working perfectly prior to the harness recall. Anyway, I thought it might be a corroded selector switch, so I took it apart and it is clean as a pin, but I did find there is no power whatsoever getting into the switch. Any ideas where I can look or where to trace that I might find the source? Someone suggested it might be something in the cdi box? Thanks in advance!

definatly let the dealer fix it then if they dont contact Kaw. center and let them know, mabye a fuse or cdi box , I would get a dyno unit or copper head any way , they rock!! good luck, My 750 gave trouble when it was nearly new , so I changed to amsoil in the front diff. I got irratated and started to ignore it then it started to work prprly , no trouble since, I had to just let it flash and ride normally till it would slam out of gear but its fine now, I think its a china design , and for their 250F bikes I got a horrer story to shudder then all but the kaw race team is going to make it right !! thanks guys the rest are idiots.

Okay, here's what I done today. I downloaded the service manual and ran some diagnostics. I checked with a tester the 2wd/4wd switch in the actuator control system (Chapter 17 Electrical System). The readings were not standard which are indicative of a problem in the switch or the actuator control unit. Then I checked the Controller Unit itself. Again, not a standard reading indicative of a problem with the controller unit. I also had a non-standard reading for the controller power supply indicative of a problem with the wiring harness, 30A fuse, or ignition.
Now, since I have no flashing lights on my dash AND since my KEBC works perfectly, I'm suspecting it's probably not the controller unit itself and leaning more toward the cdi which I'm going to replace with a dyno or copperhead anyway as stormseeker suggested.
I'll let you know how it develops.
Thanks
