Prarie 650 oil question
#1
I have a 650 prarie and was wondering will it matter if you use Oil other then Kawasaki Brand oil? Like castrol ect..? does it really matter hate paying 5 bucks a quart when u can get same stuff for 2 or 3 bucks.

My quad is an '03 and the sevice manager at the Kawasaki shop told me it doesn't really matter what kind you use, just as long as it coinsides with the temperature of the weather. He also said it's better to use the same brand year round because each manufacturer blends their oils differently than the others and it might be harmful to the engine. I use Castrol full synthetic every time I change the oil for the simple fact I've got almost 5000mi on mine.

The only time mine has had the kawasaki oil was when it was from the factory. You can use what ever brand that meets the specs. I use the synthetic oils and they're more than $5 a quart, you can use the $1 walmart oil and be fine. Everyone has their opinion on what the best oil is, run what you are comfortable with.

Both of mine run considerably cooler with the synthetic oil (less fan), and supposed to be longer drain intervals. You know that kawasaki gets someone to bottle their oil along with the stickers. I use the walmart filters and synthetic oil, I may be defeating the purpose but with 5000 plus miles it's worked so far.
