Newbe - KAW Bayou 220 questions.
#1
Hello, new to the forum. a few qucik questions...
1. I have a Kaw 220 - is there anyway to get more speed out of this machine? also, how fast does it go? I guessed around 40mph????
2. I want to get new tires on the back, I also want them to be slightly bigger/wider. What size should I get? Again, this is for a Bayou 220- 2002 model
thanks in advance!

What size are the tires on the rear now? Also, if i had to guess I would say around 40mph sounds about right. There are couple of things to get more speed out of it as far as sprockets go and things. Those are probably a good CHEAP idea. Also you have to watch about how big you go on the rear tires it could throw your gearing all out of wack.

Not sure the tire size, I need to look. They are the stock tires though. I was thinking maybe just a wider tire. Just wanted some mud tires like gator's or something to help get through the mud easer.

I got 25 inch swamplites on mine. It goes at least 45 now, maybe more if I had a stretch of road long enough. Down a hill I would guess 55mph.
Don't let anybody talk you out of big tires coz of "lack of power" n BS like that. I have 25s and plenty of power. Can ride a nice wheelie and tow a car around the yard! You can forget about doing donuts tho.
If you want 25's be aware that you will probably want to add an inch or so to the rear shocks if you carry a lot of weight (ie a 2nd person) or you'll scrape plastic. You might have to bend the foot catchers behind the pegs a bit too. Mine would mount right up, but I bent those things anyway because rocks and sticks would get caught there.
The only time I get stuck now is crossing big logs or mud holes that have huge ruts in them. As long as those tires are touching something, you will go.

I believe stock tire size is for the Bayou 220 is 22x10x10
I also found a Maxxis Mud Bog' s , they come in a 23x11x10
I'm guessing these will fit the stock rims? If anyone knows, please let me know.
