Default 2005 650 brute force

Anyone else have there machine pop and backfire when its cold ? On a cold day mine will pop and backfire even after the cooling fan has come on, if you hammer the trigger it will hesitate a sec and then haul ***. I only have 26 hours on it. Is there a cure other than buying a honda. lol. I was told honda put a heated fuel bowl on there carbs to solve this problem. Other than the cold naturedness I love the power, will smoke anything I have ridden.

Thanks

Your carb already has electric heater - the white wire attached at the lower right/front of the carb, unless it's been removed. I would replace the needle jets (one for each carb) to next richer size (thinner alllowing more fuel to flow) or raise/shim the needles a bit (like 0.01"). It would be a trial and error to fine tune but that's the right direction.

You are running way to lean if it pops when hot. The fact that it hesitates when you stab it makes me belive that your carbs simply need a good cleaning. Usually when you're running lean it will rev quickly. The jets must be clogged with old gas going bad. It is an '05 and you only have 26 hours on it. I assume you didn't drain it or add any sta-bil to it?

most likly the carbs are dirty. the 05s came from the factory running really lean. turn ur idle mixure screw out 1/2 a turn then ajust ur needles up one notch.or just one shim on each
