Need Advise on this ATV
#1
I'm looking to buy my first ATV. I don't want to spend crazy money on a new one if I can get a decent deal on a used one. I'm only looking to ride on the weekends and maybe plow my driveway.
Anyway, looking for your opinion on this one. My buddy has 2 ATV's and this one is just sitting. He has an 03 Kawasaki Brute Force 650 4X4 with front/rear racks. Rear has child seat(which i have)and side compartments. Here's the thing, his brother crashed it and so he had it completely rebuilt from frame/engine up. Everything is tuned up/new brakes, everything. He spent $4,500 on the rebuild. He's asking $3,500 and is firm on it.
Any thoughts.
Thanks,

2003 BF 650?
BF series was not available back then. It was called Prairie in 2003. Mainly plastic/styling was changed when Kawi started to call the 650 a Brute Force (SRA version). If you are sure it says Brute Force on the plastic, then it is not 2003 model year. It has to be 2005 or later.
Say it is a 2003 P650...
Price seems little stiff on a 5-year old crash-rebuilt quad. It all depends how bad the crash was, how many hours/miles, cyl compression check or leak down test (this tells you how tight it is), CVT condition, 4WD gear box, etc. You (or mechanic) need to check out some important/expensive issues like that... new brake? If it's just new pads, they don't really mean much. Get a copy of the $4500 repair service paper and see what was done. By the way, Kawi has never made ATV that can officially carry a passanger in the back from a legal point of view (but many people do 2-up riding).
