thanks for the reply. most guys/gals say theirs is faster, better, ect.... well after many trips to our local atv park i have seen them all in action on the trails and in the mud, and 3 brands seem to be the most popular. the brute, sportsman, and the cats. just wondering if the popo was as fast as some claimed.

I have both and the brute 750 is faster. Both top out at about 70mph, but the BF750 gets there quicker. That is not to say the sportsman 800 is slow. It is probably the 3rd fasted production machine behind the bf750 and the can-am 800.

i was at a mud race, and WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! those can-am's are unreal. kinda like a pinto vs. a mustang. wonder how the thundercat stands with the can-am?

Ibrokeit have you raced a Can-Am with your brute yet? I raced my brother with his 800 and me on my brute. Its alot closer than you think. Out of the hole, you stomp them. Top end they'll get ya, but not by much. As far as the Can-Am against the T-Cat, how should I say this..... they eat the T-Cat's dust from a pretty darn good distance. How do I know this you say? I know a guy thats buddies (he's got $) with one of the big wigs at Cat and he was invited to Minnesota to try it out. He said they had all the machines there BF, Bombs, Sportsman, etc. He said that the T-Cat destroyed all of them. He also said that you can tell that they toned the motor down on her, compared to her potential, but WOW.

my friends own a cat dealership, and got one thundercat a few months back, and they said that thing was awsome. I have not raced my brute much. just a friends brute 650, which i destroyed, and a cat 650 vtwin with a clutch kit and moose, i got him by 1. mine was stock with 28"s. Now yesterday i raced the king quad with a hmf, and dobek tfi, i won by a half, then i put on a moose....................wham!!!!!!!!!!!! 3 the first time and i stood up the front, had to let off, get straight, and walked off. second race 4 easy. im lookin into some new clutch springs, i just dont know if i can do the install

Cat isn't what was expected. For that size engine, it should have 80HP plus and spank the competition. Fact is, it's only a little faster. Imagine if Kawi built something that big, even a 800 V-twin Kaw would probably put it in it's place. Look at youtube. The 840's have no problem with the 800 outty or 950 cat.

And for the Sp800, it isn't competition, unless you are racing for a mile or more on a straight away. Maybe then it would catch the brute.
