05 brute running hot!
#1
Hello to all..
I have a 05 Brute Force 750 with what seems to be a cooling prob.
any suggestions on a special coolant? And in changing the coolant do you have to do it at the thermostat housing?
I've herd using synthetic oil can help keep the beast cooled down. Any thoughts would be a help.

Clean your radiator first, get all the crud out. I use my power washer, but not too close to cause damage. Yes, synthetic oil does help but its not going to solve a cooling problem. It will help your engine last longer as it greatly reduces wear.
As to changing the coolant you need to take the front plastics off to get to the radiator cap to get the air out of the system.

You can also get some coolant additive like engine ice that will help keep it cooler. If you want to get real radical there are triple flow radiators you can buy too. You can also buy engine oil coolers... all depends how much you want to spend

and if that all fails, there is a wiring harness problem on 05 and earlier 06. Got to take off rear fenders. By the fuel tank, about where the tank breather is you should feel a spot where there is a block taped to the harness. Now take and cut the tape off and pull it away. You'll see that it is green, best way to fix these is to cut it out and soder all the wires to gether and tape them up good. Now there are 3 different colored wires. Don't soder all the same color together only the same colors.
I have fixed many of these at my work and have been getting Kawi to pay for this, there is no service bullentins or anything. So if you take into your dealer they will need to call into get it repaired. They should want to do these as it does pay pretty good.

Ok! Thanks for all the input.
But just out of curiosity what is the problem with this wire block?
Is it just a wiring harness that needs to be replaced? cluby, on
the last part you wrote it didn't make much since ,Don't soder all the same color together only the same colors? You kinda lost me there. What is this wiring for?
I would appreciate all the info I can get.
Thanks to All Again!

ok in this block is where they made to connection for a bunch of ground wire and others. 3 different color in total. They carode and then you start having problems like the fan doesn't come on ect. So cut thay block out and solder all the black wires together, white, and brown. So there all matching the same color.
I was trien to say that you should be able to take it into your dealer to get this done. The only problem is that Kawi never made this a service bullentin. So for those dealers who don't know about this need to call into to get othization to get Kawi to pay them to do the repair.
I think that they get 1/2 to soder and 2 1/5 to rnr rear fenders and possible another 1/2HR to diagous the problem. So see they could get paid like 3 1/2 hours to do this. It really only takes at the most 2hours

I changed my coolant to Amsoils coolant with water wetter also, Added an inline cooler and also sent the exhaust out and had it ceramic coated, I think the ceramic coating helped alot. I notice its not nearly as hot on my leg.
