anybody own or know anything bout how good an 02 kawi bayou 220 would be i might buy one 2mara 4 my gf to start out and plus to have another play bike 4 me in the trails, are they pretty reliabe? quick? how would they compare to say a recon 250, since that is what we were gonna buy but the one we bidded on the price went to a ridiculus amout of like $1600+ for a used 2000 model. thanks for any comments or help

A Kawasaki Bayou 220 is a pretty reliable machine but not a speed demon at all. The ride is rough due to the little suspension travel and it's not as powerful as a Recon. Recons are much better than any Bayou but I would still take a Suzuki Ozark 250 over a Honda Recon 250. The Ozark has better suspension, a bit more power, it's faster than the Recon, and mine goes through what ever I want it to with Interco Swamp Lite tires on it. The Ozarks have great turning abilities and mine is very reliable, has yet to let me down and you wouldn't dare take an ATV through my trail without steal plating!! The Ozark's shifting is smooth and the ride is comfortable and the extra power is there when you need it. So the Ozark is another ATV you should think about. But no, the Bayou only does up in the 30 mph range when it comes to speed.

Bayou 220's are pretty good machines, and there isn't too much speed difference between the bayou and recon. Plus, the bayou accelerates faster, and I beat my friend on his recon in short drags. I say whichever you find cheaper, buy.

k we bought it and rode it today pretty nice bike it needs a top motormount bolt, brakes adjusted and new front tires, and a rubber piece that holds the toolbox lid on and thats pretty much it everything else is good, i wanna get a uni filter though i guess cuz the spark arrestor is pulled out so i figured id get a uni and maybe step up on a jet sometimes it pops on deceleration...any1 make aftermarket exhaust pipes for these bikes? thanks

I don't know about exhaust, but I hear K&N has a few upgrades for it...I lost my rubber pieces for the toolbox too, hit a bbump and they flew off, so I just use a bungee cord that I wrap around it.
