Lakota Sport CWR 335 Kit results

Old speed was 57 MPH before cwr 335 kit and cam. now my new top speed is 63.4 MPH according to my garmin. I have a 14 T sprocket on it also and a direct fit air filter (attaches straight to the carb). I havent gotten the jetting / needle on the best setting just yet, so I think it has a little more potential, but probably not too much more. It will put the front end up pretty easy now. I think the 14 T is a good size sprocket for these mods. The first gear still wraps up way to quick but the other 4 seem about right. I am also running 20" tires now. I would like to see what it would do if it had the port job. I will be adding more to this post if my results get any better with carb adjustments. Let me know if any of you with similar mods have gotten different or better results.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

Well, hope to take mine out to a place over the fourth where I can actually use 5th gear. If it will wind out in 5th (Don't know that it will) it should run 66-68 mph. Where I usually ride there is one place that I can just about top it out in fourth (about 50 mph) before I have to pull the reigns in or else I end up in a ravine or hung up in a tree. You might surprise yourself with the jetting especially if your too lean right now. You may find another mile or so if it will wind out. Mine revs up too quick in first too. I almost never use first unless I'm climbing boulders and screw up. Most of the time though it has too much torque for starting on a hill in first and just snaps the front end up. It's more controllable in second in those sits. Anyway sounds like you've got it pretty close.

Thanks Thundercat. I guess if I ever use my lakota to pull anything, first gear will come in handy- I used to use it to drag a chunk of railroad tie to pull up weeds in my yard when I lived in dry new mexico. I have also found that it is easier to get the front end up in second than in first (on level ground)- in first it usually just gives the tires a quick spin. When I tested it, I had a 138 main jet and I put in a 140. Depending on what that does I may need to go to town and buy some more jets. Its the biggest one I have. I also raised my needle to the 4th setting instead of the 3rd. I am kinda copying your carb layout, since we are at similar altitudes. I know you still need more flow than I do due to your porting, but if anything it seems that it would be better for me to go rich and work my way down instead of running lean.
I turned my bike over on saturday and broke the end off of my right brake lever. I was sliding in a turn then the tires unexpectedly hooked up. Im glad I wasnt going faster. I think I really could use a wider axle in the back and some spacers on the front, or if I can afford it, some extended a arms.
I am curious to see what you end up with for your top end on the 4th.

Ouch. What tires do you have? I have 24" Carlisle AT489's on the back of mine. It's almost impossible for me to slide because they hook so hard. It just two wheels and then I know to stop. I can bust them loose in dry clay but it usually stays under me pretty good. Sucks about your brake. Often people will part them out and sell them on ebay. That's where I got all of the parts that were lost when the machine was stolen.

Thanks Thundercat! I am not sure that I need the whole assembly, it was just the outer 2 inches of the handle. I was kind of thinking about just leaving it as is. It doesnt bother me and I never use the outer part of the handle. If I do replace it, do I have to replace the whole assemble or can I just replace the handle? I havent even really looked at it.
