My praire does it all the time. My brothers Prairie does it, too. I had to learn how to put it on so it will stay. Forcefully shove it forward, then hit it sharply over the latch. Works most of the time. Not sure about a 2008 model, though.

The secrect to keep the seat on the quad is to make sure all 3 male components of the bottom side of the seat are in hooked to the matching female components on the frame side. Flip over the seat and you will see following 3:
> Front plastic tongue
> Center plastic tongue - most difficult
> Rear metal hooks

If the center one is very close to the seat, that means it has not been hooked correctly - instead of placing it under the frame socket, it wet over and you've been riding like that. With that kind of deformation on the center hook, the seat will never be latched correctly. Using a heat gun, bend it about 30 degrees away from the seat.

The best and the surest way to install the seat correctly is to push forward/down from the behind the quad. Press down the center of the seat while pushing it forward to latch the center tongue. After you install it before sitting down, ALWAYS try to lift up the seat by grabbing the both sides. If it doesn't come off, you did it right.

I agree, those seats are not easy to fully latch but once you learn the trick, your loose seat will be history.
You may be able to peek under the seat in the middle section after you get it latch by pulling up on the seat & checking to see if that middle tab did latch in correctly, I did this on my '03P650. If it looked like it was almost latched in, I would pop off the rear section just a little and push the seat forward, you will feel it latch into the middle notch.

I figured it out, too. It was trial and error and it stays on 98% of the time as long as i press down on the middle of the seat.
