06 brute force 650 need help
#1
my brute force turns over has spark and gets gas but it will not start please i need some help on this one. i just bought it like a month ago and i only put 500 miles on it. when i got it the belt light came on and then i reset it and then about 2 weeks later it started to over heat so i hooked the fan up direct to the battery so than when i ride its on all the time. i rode it for 2 more weeks and it ran great and i stopped to put gas in another quad and it died and now it will not run and i think that it needs valve adjustment or the timing went out but i would like to have some help on this one b/c i don't have alot of money to put it in the shop

yeah the choke is all the way open and i give it alittle gas b/c thats what i had to do to get it to start b4 do ya think it could be the valves or timing or the shut off switch

When engine is cold and choke is full on, don't give throttle. Just press the green start button.
When engine is hot/warm, close choke and give some throttle when starting.
I have 3 of these V-twin quads and above method has been working fine for last 5+ years all the time.
Tight valve will cause hard starting - set to looser side of spec.
Timing doesn't change by itself unless the cam chain skips a tooth on the spcrocket if the tensioner is maxed out stuck and not automatically adjusting it.
Shut off switch is usually very reliable. If that's bad, there would be no spark - which you can easily check by removing the spark plug and get the tip close to the frame to see if the spark would jump.

Try this, Take your airfilter out spray some Gumout carb cleaner down into the carbs. Then try and start it. If it tries to start then you know your fuel filter or your carbs are plugged. For the over heating problem drain your rad. then add NEW 50/50 premix coolant. Then add some Water Wetter. this helped mine out a bunch.
Good luck

When you squirt in the carb cleaner into the carb throats (2), make sure you open the throttle wide open as you are doing it. If you don't, the carb cleaner liquid that you just spayed in is just sitting on top of the throttle plactes. It will eventually trickle down but very slowly. Also, check/adjust the valve clearance - that is important for easy starting (because tight valves wold not let enough air in).
