you think it could possibly be a tranny problem? sometimes with everything being so close it is hard to tell. with the other having a catastrophic transmission failure shortly after it began knocking, i think i would look there first.

yea but i had someone look at it before the transmission went out and they all said it was coming from the top end. and i tried the trick were you put like a pole up to the motor and listen to it to see where the noise was and the bottom end sounded good but the top end you could hear it

is it a really fast knock or kinda a tick tick tick when its idling? could be a rocker arm and it would sound slower than a rod cuz it only occurs every other rev instead of every one like a rod.

i noticed today that it does it mostly right when i start it up then it goes away. its not a real fast knock. i have the other motor valve cover off what can i look for on it to see if what your thinking might be the proble because the other motor did the same thing but it did it all the time when it idled. also i herd it could be the gas you use? should i use premium

i dont imagine it is detonation. i would say you have a rocker a little loose and it is swelling up once it gets some heat in the motor. i would check the valve clearance first.

Mine knocked like that when you reved it...specially bogging it in a low gear or pulling out. You could ask anyone on here that knows mojaves, they know they knock. No one knows exactly why they do it ....mine i rebuilt a zillion times and had everything in specs and still knocked. Simple solution to the annoying noise....get a pipe!! i put my pipe on and you cant hear the knock!

generally if a motor is gonna detonate it is gonna do it under a heavy load i.e. just after letting out the clutch or lugging it around, idling they usually dont unless you have issues, i would say they have too much ignition timing in them if they are that prone to detonating.

to adjust the valves you need to take the valve cover off of your head. Its 6 bolts then you will need a feeler guage to use in between the rocker arm and the valve stems. Onnce you have that cover off you will see what im talking about...theres 2 little adjusting screws on each rocker arm you will need to adjust. A flat head screw driver and a 10 mm wrench you will need to do this. Im not possitive on the stock specs for what they need to be adjusted ill look in the book and post them asap!!! hope this helps hit me up if you need more help
