I had to upjet my mikuni carb so I took off the plastics and took the carb out and in the airbox you can see the walls are lined with dirt caked on the sides, this is after the filter right before the carb. I do alot of riding through deep mud puddles but water never gets up as high as the air intake, I think the k&n filter just lets alot of crap flow through. Is this true? Has anyone else had this problem? I have had to clean the carb twice since I got it and that was a few months ago. Should I get a different filter?

 

is the k&n one of those paper filters? if it is i would just stick with the uni foam filter. i have it and have never had to clean my carb.
