Default Brute Force 650i - Water Damage?

I have an '06 BF that is completely stock. Recently I ended up in some deep water, but nothing much deeper than I have previously gone through. Anyway, afterward the bike was not running well at all. Took the airbox apart and found the filter soaked. Now the engine runs, but when I give it throttle there is little power and little response. Did I kill the motor or do the carbs need cleaning (some mud in the airbox too)? Any help will be appreciated.

I recommend that you drain all of the oil out of the crankcase, clean the carbs, and change the oil filter before running it anymore and it might not be a bad idea to change the plug too. I say this because you mentioned that the air filter was soaked and there was mud in the air box, which leads me to believe that you may have sucked in some water. In fact, since I tend to go overboard on maintenance (if there is such a thing), I recommend changing the oil twice before doing any serious ridding, just to be safe.

Mudatv,

Thanks for the ideas. Next time I'm upstate I'll do all of those maintenance items and see what happens. It won't be for a little while, but I'll let you know how it turns out. On another note do you know of any stroker kits for the BF 650i?

Sounds good. As for the stroker kit (higher comp piston and rings), check out Highlifter or Wisco products. I'm not sure if they make a stroker for this bike or not, but it's worth a look.
