I don't race quads, I circle track and drage race cars, so take it for what it's worth.
The first thing I would do it go to a local track and get into the pits. Walk around and look and talk. Don't do this right before a big race. Crews and riders are busy trying to get their rides ready to go. The last thing they want to do is people asking questions right before a big race. I personally don't like anybody to ask me anything after my belts are on. I have other things on my mind.
After the race, find out who wins and takes 2nd 3rd. Those are the people you want to talk to and look at their equipment. No reason to talk to the loosers because they haven't figured it out yet.
After the race I will talk to people all they want. With drag racing, I will tell people anything they ask. Circle track racing is a different story. It's more of a closed club and there are some secrets on setup that I won't talk about.
Get to the track and talk to people. You might also what to talk to the people that run the track. They want to help you get into racing because they make $$$$ if you do.
Good luck!!!!!!!
