i just rebuilt the topend and adjusted the valves. the thing busts off every time without fail and idles just fine. but just off idle to about middle throttle it spits and sputters. if i hit the throttle and let off then hit it again it will push over that spot and run good at 1/2 to WOT. any ideas?

 

What octane gas are you running?

 

93 i think. thats what i had on hand. if i put in in gear and punch on it it doesnt act abnormal so im not really concerned with it

 

It seems the carbs are running little too lean at the mid range where it sputters a bit. Shim the existing jet needles or install next size up (richer).

 

I agree with shimming the needles. Also turn the feul screws out 1/4 to half turn.

 

apparently i had to take too much material off the jug to get the scratches out of the front cylinder. it has piston knock and i think it may have broke a skirt off. get to tear into it again it seems
