Just letting all kawaski riders know i have been a longtime tecate man . Yet today my wife just bought me a ROLL DESIGN 250r national quad, so its time to rest the tecate and hit the nationals in full style ready to tear it up . Still the tecate has gottin me to where i am today sned me a message if you need anything to know about tecates.

I have a showroom clean 88 tecate 4, The problem is that the rear shock is blown. I ride MX, what kind of mods should I have done to the rear shock when I have it rebuilt, and by whom?? Also I have a guy who wil build me +2 a-arms. Will that be a good idea??? Do tectae frames crack a lot?? Are the swingarms stong?? What is the wheel travel on the 88?? What mods do you think I should do. My last quad was a 99 laeger pro-trax.

well as far as your rear shock goes i just bought a works ultra-cross from legacy atv it was 560.00 and it is still setting on the floor. cuz with the Roll setting in the garage why put it on right now.dont even bother getting the oem rebuilt it wont last very long. i have raced my tecate for 10 years and it has beaten up pleanty 250r's . ATV RACING built my A-arms and they were +3's and they are great. If you want it to scream and do great on the track then change the elect. system to a 88 or 87 KX 250 it will be white knuckle time . when you do make sure you put it on upside down or it will run backwards. i have it on mine now and i love it. yes the frame cracks in couple different places one on the lower frame rails just in front of the engine,and the other is right by the right footpeg where it bends to up behind the engine...the swing arm isnt all to bad if your shocks are set up right. Any thing else ya need to know i probly have done it so send me a message to atv@greatlakes.net and i will help ya out.

Scott, what is your opinion of the best pipe setup for an 88' green machine with LA sleeve std. bore, K&N filter, boyzen reeds and ballz out rider?

Right now i have a DYNO-PORT high rev pipe and fmf silencer.but if you really want to go fast switch your eletc.system to the kx250 from am 87 then i will bw untouchable !AS far as the K&N filter if it is like to one i got at one time with the metal cover holding on the small round filter......ALL I CAN SAY IS TAKE IT OFF IT IS ROBBING YOU OF GOOD POWER !PUT A UNI\MULTI stage filter it gives you more aera to draw air from ....when i put mine on i had to rejat down cuz it stopped the flow of air... Dont for get i race motorcross and this has been my setup for about 6 years..
