Default Brute 750 Issues

Sold my 06' Sp500. Looking at gettin an 05 Brute 750. Little over 500 miles on it. Looks to be very well cared for and extremely clean. All stock. Any issues with this particular year? Any differences between an 05' -07'? Under normal riding conditions do they have any overheating issues? Hopefully I get HONEST answers or opinions with this next question.... how are they compared to a newer Sportsman 700-800? (as in 05-07) I know of some 800 owners with overheating problems under pretty much normal conditions.

they will run hot if you get the radiator full of mud. Other than that they are fine. Also tend to suck in steam if you ride in lots of water (fast). The problem is there is NO splash prtection under the fenders. The 650 SRA has great protection under the fenders. I looked at the new POPO 850xp the other day at the local shop and it is much worse than the Brute when it comes to radiator protection. All 4 wheelers will run hot if you get the radiator full of mud.

Don't plan on deep mud riding (famous last words) mainly woods riding and trail. I've had 2 sportsmans and ready for a change. Go to look at it tomorrow. According to owner it's near showroom cond. If it's not, I guess it will be a 2 hr. scenic drive for me.

Bought it. Love it. It walked away from my buddies 700 POPO. I rode Polaris for 9 years and time for a change. Thinkin on gettin a dynatec cdi. From what I read it will wake this beast up. Is it an easy install? Any other changes have to be made? Any drawbacks to it?

Other than the backfire during deceleration(which there is a replacement jet for them) and ive heard of people breaking one of the front axles, the brute force is a nice 4-wheeler.

Default What a brute they are

I recently purchased an 06' 650 Brute with very low miles.....it was sluggish cause it was stored a lot....so I slowly dumped some sea foam cleaner directly into the carbs via the airbox and man it smoked the entire afternoon, but eventually it came to life....man what a beast now...I have not driven very many atvs and this is my first one I have owned....I took it to camp and used it for cleanup...sure beats wheelbarrowing...lol...the 650 sra is stable in the wooded trails and enough torque to work and plenty of speed to ride...at least for me anyways....I was not brand specific when I went looking other than I have always had bomardier snowmobiles and I like the reviews on the Can-ams....but I went for the deal used with no payments...I am more than pleased....only downfall I can see is the fact that to engage the 4 wheel drive ya have to move ahead or back a bit...but that saves on wear and tear to put it in earlier when it gets nasty...well happy trails to all...
