I need desperate help on 1986 Kawaski KLF185 wiring. I purchased this machine not knowing some of the wiring has been bypassed. (Kind of pig in poke). Hope someone can scan and e-mail me the wiring diagram for this machine. Will be given to grandkids if I can get running.

I have a 185 with some issues. I found a wiring diagram for a 220. I have attached it. It seems to be real close to the 185. I have been working from this to fix my starter circuit. It may give you some help.

 

Striped thru zig zag lines are for chinese or 220 version replacement parts. Please see the photo. Note that a 220 light/engine kill/starter switch will have to be modified(only parts available as of 3/24). On said switch for the 220 the Y/R and Y/R shall remain connected but to nothing else. Plugged. The BLU/R must be cut from the BR within the first 3 inches of the wiring. BLU/R becomes BLK/Y to GRD. Otherwise a short occurs. The starter button comes from the 220 version from BLK.

(?) Mark indicates neither a solid positive battery or negative battery signal. Values are not easily replicated due to internal voltages. All other are marked as positive or negative when the correct switches for that circuit are made... for troubleshooting purposes. Have not yet gone into testing the cdi for known good resistances. Wiring diagram for the klf185a (1). Dash marks indicate where whiteout should have been used. Ignore all dashed connections that are not bolded over. Starter button also comes from Y/R internally and out the engine run switch. See other diagram for pinout. Hope this helps.
