08 Brute Force 750i plow recommendations
#1
Looking for recommendations for a snow plow for my Brute. I just bought a new house here in PA and my driveway is about 1100 feet long.
I know there are many makers of plows and many sizes so any input would be great.
Thanks.

I like my plow. Its a Tusk City Slicker. It works great, is very sturdy and price wasnt all that bad either. I got it from rocky mountain. I believe the maker of the plow is Eagle and they're made here in the USA. I would go with 60". I was kinda worried if it was to big when I ordered it but it works great. The Brute has enough power and weight to handle it.

I dont know how the cycle country plow hooks up but the Tusk couldnt be any easier. Just a hook on either end of the push tubes that grab a pin on either side of your skid plate. The belly pan that has the pins on it can easilly be removed for the summer. It attaches to a 3/16" steel plate that stays on the machine full time (im sure you could remove it and put that crappy plastic skid back on if you really wanted, but the plate is indestructible).
If you do get the Tusk, dont waste your money and get the remote blade position kit. Never could get it to work right.

I see that Tusk also offers a model called the "Dozer". The only difference I can see (specs are identical) is the "Dozer" comes with a rubber flap that is bolted to the top of the blade.
Any comments on that?

I found out that the Dozer is a tapered blade like the cyclone or state plow.
One thing I forgot to add about my 1100 foot driveway is it used to be just dirt with patches of non-grade stone. This past summer I had the entire thing tar and chipped. I guess my question is I do not want to rip it up with a plow so will I be ok if I just set the skids up so that the blade is about an inch off the driveway?
TIA for any responses.

I also have the Tusk City Slicker plow on my Brute, it works very very well. It attaches very easily, and has 5 different angles which is very nice as well, and it's got a cheaper price tag (Rocky mountain ATV). The only thing you will have to watch is, I was plowing a dirt road and hit a rock and twisted one of the runner tubes back to the mount and it cracked the welds. Now it pops off sometimes when I plow with it (until I fix it). I think it's because the Brute (like other big bore's) is so heavy and big and has a lot of power that when you hit stuff with the plow it tends to keep pushing. I was probably going a bit faster than I should have been going.
So just be careful when plowing on dirt or anything rough and go slow.
As for the skids, I have mine about even with the bottom of the wear bar and it doesn't tear anything up, unless your in grass
. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. It just makes me feel better because I ordered the City Slicker last week from Rocky Mountain ATV (cannot beat the price, free shipping, and the $50 store credit I got for a $300+ order) last week. It arrived on Wednesday of this week and I am going to install it tomorrow. The skids are actually bigger and more "heavy duty" than I expected when is a good thing. We are supposed to get some snow on Sunday but I do not know if it will be enough to plow...............I actually hope it is

I must say that I really like this plow. Moved everything I got so far.
The only problem I have is with lifting mine. I have the RT25 Warn and for those of you that have the City Slicker you know that when you hook the winch cable up to the plow it is almost straight below it. This means all of the weight of the pull is on the bottom fairlead roller and with the way the fairlead attaches to the winch mount (after the 45 degree angle bend of the mount so the fairlead is straight) that kind of pull puts a lot of stress on it and I bent my mount and the fairlead is now pointing down and not straight. I am most likely going to take it to a buddy to bend it back and weld braces on it but this bothers me.
Does anyone else have this problem? Are there any solutions? Am I missing something? Can I put a pulley somewhere so that the winch is actually making a straight pull when lifting the plow instead of all the weight being on the bottom roller?
TIA for any feedback.
