Default Hi Just got an 08 BF 650

Had to replace our stolen 03 praire 360, off I went to the used bike shop. They had a 06 Polaris Sportsman 500 with 500 miles for 4800. They also had an 08 BF 650(not IRS) for 4300 wit 1000 miles. The Polaris was very clean, and pretty quick too. But there was a lot of noise on deceleration. It ran fine, but the higher price, smaller displacement and noise bugged me. The Kawi was goofy fast, but had some cosmetic issues. Scratches and the front rims had dings. The Kawi was quieter, despite the bigger motor also 2 years newer and 500 bucks less. I went with the Kawi. My friend told me I made the wrong choice, but I think I did ok. What say you?

I think you did a much better job selecting the brute then.

Thanks. The salesman told me that Polaris are more noisy, but it seemed more than that. Little voice in my head was saying run away. Any way I will pick up the brute as soon as the insurance mails the check. I hope next week but we'll see. I will use it for hunting this year and work on the cosmetic flaws over the winter. New front steel rims, have the racks stripped and powder coated along with the floor boards. Most of the scratches should buff out. Pull off the exhaust and get that painted too. Should be good to go.

In a same condition, which engine do you think will last longer - over working single or more relaxed twins?

This Brute felt a lot less stressed under power. A stump puller for sure. She is now resting comfortably in my garage with fresh oil and a clean air filter. Will take it up to the cabin soon and stomp around a bit.
