Fuel Pump for bayou 185
#1
Well now it seems the fuel pump is a problem. I checked some online parts places and the want 140$ for a replacement, Ouch
. I checked at Advance Auto and they have an aftermarket pump from Mr Gasket that runs 44$, and puts out 2-3.5 lbs pressure. There is also a Mikuni Pulse Fuel Pump that works off of crank case vacum for 20$ I could hook it to the existing crank case vent and a Facet 12-volt Electric Fuel Pump, 1-1/2 to 3-1/2 psi, 25 GPH Delivery Capacity for 45$ from jcwhitney.com? Any thoughts? Is there a place I can get a re-build kit for the original pump?

I am also trying to get an old 185 running. I am in need of a fuel pump as well. Did you come up with a solution? I am curious about the after-market options you had discussed. Let me know what worked for you.

I ended up buying a pump from checker auto made by Purolator/Fawcet. It was a 1.5 - 3 lb psi 25 gal per hr. It was $45, sure beats $145.
I made a bracket to fit the existing mount and mounted it output up, input down. Worked great. A 90 degree fitting on the output for clearance made it line up to the carb nice. Ive had it putting around the hose with no problems but not in the field. Good luck!
