This is something that you can do, but I would search the internet and look for video of it or pictures and detailed steps. If you go to nyrocatv.com, they have tech tips on there with instruction and pics, and some have videos on you tube. I do my belts but I have looked up the process to make sure that I am doing it correctly. Some people on here have posted downloadable service manuals for certain bikes and these have good info on this. I am pretty sure somebody has posted the downloadable manual for the Brute on here, you just might have to search for the topic. Better to buy just the belt than pay for the labor as well!! Good luck..you should be able to find alot on this. Better for you to see the steps than trying to follow typed directions...just my opinion.

I never had to use a tool in my life to change a belt on my sleds (All make) or my ATV but they seem to recomend a puller of some kind. A belt replacement is a job a person should be able to do on the trail infact.
