Default knock of death

what exactly is the knock of death and how can it be fixed. i have a 2005 kawasaki Brute Force750, and it just started knocking terribly. the oil pressre light is on, and the last time i rode it it wouldnt go over 27 mph. it was not knockin at that time. Not sure where to start lookin. Could it be the rocker arm bearings

Knocking + Oil Light + Low Power = Rod Bearing Gone Bad due to lack of lubrication

it has about 3000 miles on it and not sure about the hours. I had it buried in a mud pit last year on accident and it just hasnt been the same

The quad was burried in a mud pit PLUS the oil light came on (because of lack of oil pressure). Then it doesn't matter whether it is a 05 motor or a brand new 2010 bought just yesterday.

Yes, it is a major job if indeed rod bearings went out. And I think that's what might have happened (oil light + mud pit accident). Check/replace cam chains (there are 3 kinds - primary, intermediate & top) if engine gets torn apart, and check valves/heads as well.
