I have a 86 bayou 185. I was riding it yesterday and it quit shifting. I pulled the right cover off and noticed the shaft tab the spring straddles is broken. My question is. Do you have to split the crankcase to replace that shaft?

I don't think you do, but if you go to cyclepartsnation.com they have exploded views of every part on your bike , this could be helpful for you.

You will not have to split the cases but you may have to remove the clutch basket.
